With perspectives from GS1, Verfora, ESA, Swiss Post and Contentserv

Technological innovations such as AI and automation, as well as the growing complexity of markets and increasing demands for transparency and compliance, are significantly driving change in the PIM landscape. To discuss these developments with over 50 customers, partners and interested parties, we hosted an event on February 6 to discuss the development of PIM in the context of current trends and upcoming challenges.

GS1: The Digital Product Passport and its significance for Swiss companies (Video in German)

Due to the new Ecodesign Regulation, products in the EU economic area must become sustainable from February 2027. The presentation by Dr. Uwe Rüdel from GS1 Switzerland made it clear exactly what this means and why it affects most Swiss companies. However, he also showed that the topic offers a number of opportunities and gave clear recommendations for action to be well prepared in good time with PIM and end-to-end data management.

More about Digital Product Passport:

Verfora: PIM as one of the main tools for digital transformation

With Contentserv as the PIM system for Verfora, we have not only created system-supported common standards for processes, but also implemented a central database for all product data. In their presentation, Christoph Hüsemann and Adrien Chavy impressively demonstrated how the PIM system enables a range of different process optimizations and efficiencies. One highlight: the production of the catalog, which was reduced from 3 months production time to 30 seconds, as the audience was able to experience live.

Verfora Use Case:

ESA: Optimizing PIM processes with AI (Video in German)

We can continuously optimize the censhare system used by ESA for PIM, DAM and publishing by integrating AI services. Christine Wälchli showed how DeepL has already cut translation costs by 80% and accelerated translations by 90%. She also gave an insight into further planned developments, such as the integration of OpenAI for the automatic creation of product texts.

ESA Use Case:

Post: The future of image analysis with AI (Video in German)

Swiss Post uses the censhare Content Hub we implemented to manage over 300 campaigns a year, create media-neutral content, produce magazines and manage articles in the web store, using over 80,000 images. In his presentation, Michael Eberle showed how an AI-based workflow revolutionizes automated keywording and reduces the workload by 80%. He also shared why Swiss Post switched from Amazon Rekognition to OpenAI and how we have taken efficiency in digital asset management to a new level with AI.

Post Use Case:

Contentserv: Conquering new markets and maximizing sales with Shoppingfeed

In the presentation by our partner Contentserv, Stefan Wichmann demonstrated how companies can optimize their e-commerce strategy and connect their products with the world’s most important marketplaces by integrating Shoppingfeed into the PIM system. The advantages are obvious: synchronized inventory and automated order processing on various channels such as marketplaces, price comparison websites, social media ads and affiliate marketing sites.
